Childcare changes praised by experts

Malcolm Turnbull’s cabinet re-shuffle last week brought many changes.

One which slipped under the radar was the decision to shift responsibility for child care back into the education portfolio.

The move has won praise from the early learning sector, which has long argued that child care should be considered more than just child minding, and act as a measure to get women back into the workforce.

The change has also been applauded by visiting child care expert and Oxford University academic Edward Melhuish.
