Currently NSW is failing to invest in its littlest learners, and is now behind every other Australian state when it comes to providing quality preschool programs for all children.

That’s why ahead of the State Election, we’re calling on all parties to commit to giving all children in NSW access to 2 years of affordable, high quality play-based early learning – so that we can give them the best chance to flourish!

Sign the petition now to call on our leaders to commit to these four key things that will make access to early learning for every child in NSW possible:

  • Significant investment in NSW children to ensure all of our children attend two years of high quality early learning in the vital years before school
  • Better support for children experiencing disadvantage or vulnerability to ensure they attend 600 hours of quality preschool programs
  • A strategy to ensure NSW has enough highly trained early childhood teachers and educators
  • On-going commitment to the National Quality Framework which helps ensure all preschool programs are of high quality. To launch into learning – before they begin primary school – all of our children need access to 2 years of high quality, play-based early learning. And we need you, our leaders, to make that possible

Will you sign the petition now, to give every child the best start to their learning journeys?

To Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Opposition Leader Michael Daley, Mr Just Field (Early Childhood Education portfolio), Minister for Early Childhood Education Sarah Mitchell and Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education Kate Washington, 1 in 5 children in Australia start school behind their peers in the development of foundational skills. Starting school is a big moment in every child’s life – we need to give them the best chance to flourish. We know that the ages of 3-4 are critical in the development of a child’s brain. That’s why it’s so important that all children in NSW have access to high quality, play-based early learning in these 2 critical years. Ahead of the NSW State election, we parents, grandparents, families, educators and friends, we’re calling on you to commit to:

  • Significant investment in NSW children to ensure all of our children attend two years of high quality early learning in the vital years before school
  • Better support for children experiencing disadvantage or vulnerability to ensure they attend 600 hours of quality preschool programs
  • A strategy to ensure NSW has enough highly trained early childhood teachers and educators
  • On-going commitment to the National Quality Framework which helps ensure all preschool programs are of high quality. To launch into learning – before they begin primary school – all of our children need access to 2 years of high quality, play-based early learning.
