Why it’s important

The first five years sets the course for every child’s life.

Right now we have a chance to make sure Queensland children get the best start in life so they can thrive.

By getting the Queensland Government to invest more in early education, we can give every Queensland child the best start to life possible and help build the skills base they’ll need for success in later life.

What we’re doing

Queensland parents, early childhood educators and service providers have developed this five-point plan to ensure every Queensland child reaches their full potential.

Our plan for Queensland kids:

A long-term commitment to at least maintain current total levels of funding for Universal Access to kindergarten programs in the year before school

Extended kindergarten funding for play-based programs supporting three year olds

Better support for disadvantaged children, especially those living in regional and remote areas and from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Improved quality of early education and care through workforce development initiatives

A whole of government Early Years Strategy to ensure no children fall though the gaps.

What you can do

Use the tool on the right to email candidates running in your electorate asking them to make these five key commitments.

Act now to give Queensland children the best start in life.

It only takes a moment and could make a big difference to Queensland kids.
