PARENTS are being reassured their childcare arrangements will not be thrown into doubt on July 1, with the federal government set to take several years to fully implement its new families package.

Social Services Minister Scott Morrison has stressed working parents will be given “plenty of time” to adjust to what is expected to be a significant overhaul of the childcare sector, including new means-testing arrangements, activity tests and simplified subsidies.

In an interview with News Corp Australia, Mr Morrison said he was still on track to announce the federal government’s new families and childcare package ahead of this year’s May budget, but he stressed its implementation would be phased in to allay concerns about a jolt to the industry that have been raised by parents and the childcare sector.
