Ashlee’s story

| Mar 10, 2015

I am a single mum with a 14 month old. I returned to work when my son was just 4months old. I believe its great to work and give back to society. I could not afford to give my child opportunities by not working. There is nothing more important than providing children with opportunities to succeed in life and most importantly EDUCATION. You can’t provide your children with this by staying home on government payments, these children are our future to which will also give back to society, however returning to work means child care costs- this to me is over $200 a week then you have the cost of daily living and rental or mortgage payments. It leaves people much like myself left with not being able to choose but rather do whatever is necessary to get by. I don’t want to have to leave my job due to cost being to high this will only have a flow on effect to my child and a cycle of non working families. Many of my friends choose not to work as their wage goes to childcare costs this to them is pointless they are working for no financial gain. Quality is most important we need our children to be inspired and ready to succeed in their schooling years. Help us create a future for our children, the future of our country.
