'Every child should have the right to quality, affordable early education. That’s why we want to build a universal child care system that is simple, affordable and accessible, for every family.' Anthony Albanese
Anthony Albanese has pledged to scrap the activity test that dictates access to government childcare subsidies as part of a family-focused election pitch.
Instead, every family earning less than $530,000 a year will be guaranteed access to at least three days of subsidised childcare a week if Labor is re-elected.
Labor would also establish a $1 billion "building early education fund".
"This is the biggest investment by an Australian government ever in new childcare services," the prime minister told a crowd of supporters on Wednesday afternoon.
