Special thanks to early childhood teachers and educators everywhere who have continued providing quality programs for our children, you make such a difference.
Thank you! Acting together, we have all made a difference. We look forward to an even bigger 2024.
Early learning has been at the forefront of the political agenda, prominent in the media and has supported children through another year of learning, thriving and growing - early learning is being taken seriously by our governments.
So much happened in 2023, here are some really great highlights:
- The Federal Government’s Cheaper Child Care Legislation took effect, substantially reducing out of pocket costs for families and improving early learning access for First Nations children.
- States and Territories are progressing with increasing investments in 3 and 4yr old preschool, with several States announcing fee subsidies for families.
- The ACCC’s review of Early Learning did a deep dive into drivers of costs and fees with their final report due any day now.
- The Productivity Commission’s review of early learning ramped up, with their Draft Report A path to universal childhood education and care now open for comment.
- The Federal Governments Early Years strategy draft was released a few weeks ago for comment.
- The SA Government is working through implementation planning for the ECEC Royal Commission.
- The supported bargaining process which will hopefully deliver better wages for early childhood educators is underway.
- Organisations like Thrive By Five and The Parenthood continue to speak up. (we especially loved Jessica Rudd’s (The Parenthood CEO) National Press Club speech)
Special thanks to early childhood teachers and educators everywhere who have continued providing quality programs for our children, you make such a difference.
Thank you! Acting together, we have all made a difference. We look forward to an even bigger 2024.
